• CentexVQ and SGS BBQ

Our meet at Bear Creek Park in Houston, TX was a huge success. The park itself was massive, had a lot of shaded areas, and it was secluded from all the soccer activities going on that day. A couple of people went to the grocery store to buy the food and supplies, while the rest claimed a pavilion which wasn’t reserved by us. Finders keepers losers weepers I say. Well it just so happened the pavilion we took shelter in was reserved by a woman and her three friends, and we had a group of about 30. Thankfully, she was nice enough to share the pavilion with us.

Jeremy and Gabe manned the grill like George Foreman and Emeril Lagasse doing tag-team cooking. They both did a great job of cooking the burgers, fajitas, chicken, short ribs, hot dogs, sausages and boudin. We had sides such as potato chips, potato salad, fried rice, brownies, cake and pie. Drinks included beer, soda, water, iced tea, and a member from CentexVQ made sure he brought a little part of 6th street with him to Houston.

The only thing that could have been better was the parking, it was so limited that some of us had to park on the grass just so that we wouldn’t take over the street. Once in awhile a patrol car would come around to scout the area for questionable activity, like parking on the grass in our case. The officer told us we couldn’t park on the grass so we all moved our cars to the street, only to move it back on the grass after she left to take group photos. The officer came back around a second time and as she drove up we were all hauling tail out of the park. A few of our impatient members passed up a soccer mom in her minivan. She got so upset she followed us all the way to Track 21 just to call the cops on us and told him that we were driving too fast, we got off with a warning.

On behalf our the leaders and members of SGS. We would like to personally thank everyone that made it out to the BBQ. It was an amazing turnout and the food was delicious! It wouldn’t have been possible without you guys. Thank you once again for your support. We at SGS are trying our best to make each and every meet better than the one before it. We have pictures posted up here from the event.
